Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery position requiring CA licensure and the ability to circulate C-sections.

Details

• Work in the Family Birthing Center covering L&D, Postpartum, and OB care in an acute care hospital setting
• High-risk couplet care unit with 10 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 3 triage beds, and 12 postpartum beds
• Unit averages 140-165 births monthly
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:3-4 couplets, 1:1-2 L&D, 1:1-3 antepartum
• Common diagnoses include preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
• RNs must titrate drips including Pitocin
• OB hospitalist in house 24/7, Neonatologist on call 24/7 and rounding daily, Anesthesia in house 24/7
• No ventilators used on this unit
• RNs must read and interpret EKG strips on moms in PACU only
• EFM system used is GE Corometric monitors with Fetalink surveillance
• 12-hour night shifts starting at 6:45, with bedside report
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Floating required to all other Sacramento facilities, with in-house floating not required
• If placed on call, a 30-minute response time is required
• Charting completed in Cerner
• Scrubs provided

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN-Advanced
• STABLE certification preferred
• Must be able to circulate C-sections and manage all aspects of LDRP care from start to finish
• Must be comfortable performing the NRP/Baby Catcher role for a full shift when assigned
• Copy of driver's license required to validate legal name at time of consideration
• Two supervisor references required: one within the last 12 months worked and one within the last 3 years worked (charge nurse references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across L&D, postpartum, and OB patients in a high-risk couplet care model
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor generally does not take patients but provides break relief
• OB surgical techs are available on the unit
• Will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with final scheduling determined by management
• Holiday time off may be requested but is not guaranteed
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
