Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 2 trauma acute care unit requiring NIHSS certification and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

• Acute care ICU setting within a Level 2 trauma facility
• 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 16
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients
• Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent and pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• RNs required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilators, with RNs troubleshooting as needed
• Cardiac monitoring/telemetry required, including reading, interpreting, and documenting strips (GE monitors) with tele tech oversight
• Nurse aides and Healthcare Support techs available based on census
• 12-hour day shifts, 0630-1830 and 1830-0630 rotation
• Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
• Floating required, typically to PCU and occasionally MedSurg, with ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract timeframe

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the state of submission; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Prior experience with drip titration and telemetry interpretation required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include titrating cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips, monitoring and documenting telemetry strips, and managing respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to ventilators
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• RNs must pass a Wednesday open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% or risk termination
• If placed on call, RNs must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of being called back in
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Block scheduling is not approved except for weekends-only requests
• Duos requesting the same schedule or sharing a car will not be accepted
