Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatrics RN with chemotherapy administration skills and PALS certification for a hospital rapid response unit.

Details

  • Pediatric unit caring for patients ages 0-17 with medical surgical and hematology/oncology diagnoses
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirement
  • Float requirement to PICU and NICU
  • Self-scheduling utilized on unit
  • Uses PYXIS, Epic, and SBAR systems

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • Experience administering chemotherapy required
  • IV start and lab draw experience preferred
  • Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • First-time travelers considered if they meet the 2-year experience requirement

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to pediatric med-surg and hematology/oncology patients
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours with hospital orientation classes required daily during week one
  • Scrubs not provided; fun kid tops and navy pants required
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved excluding holidays; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
  • Additional RTO not permitted after signing
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of facility
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
  • Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
  • Contract lengths of 20+ weeks accepted to provide coverage through the holiday season
