Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatrics RN with chemotherapy administration skills and PALS certification for a hospital rapid response unit.
Details
- Pediatric unit caring for patients ages 0-17 with medical surgical and hematology/oncology diagnoses
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:15
- Every other weekend required
- No call requirement
- Float requirement to PICU and NICU
- Self-scheduling utilized on unit
- Uses PYXIS, Epic, and SBAR systems
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Experience administering chemotherapy required
- IV start and lab draw experience preferred
- Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- First-time travelers considered if they meet the 2-year experience requirement
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to pediatric med-surg and hematology/oncology patients
- Unit orientation is 24 hours with hospital orientation classes required daily during week one
- Scrubs not provided; fun kid tops and navy pants required
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved excluding holidays; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
- Additional RTO not permitted after signing
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of facility
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
- Contract lengths of 20+ weeks accepted to provide coverage through the holiday season
