Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience and prior travel assignments.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele float position within a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital's acute care float pool
• Float pool covers acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
• Patient population includes Ortho/Neuro-Stroke and Cardiac Tele cases, with high-volume ortho floors utilizing peripheral nerve catheters
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Some shifts may be split into 8-hour and 4-hour segments across different units, requiring strong time management skills
• Uses Epic for charting
• Block scheduling not accommodated

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience, ideally in a Level I or Level II trauma setting
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, and pre/post neurosurgery care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath/surgery care
• Experience with insulin drip titration required
• Strong ortho/neuro clinical skills required
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across MS/Tele, ortho, cardiovascular, and endocrine/metabolic patient populations
• Manage dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies as part of daily responsibilities
• Facility prefers to avoid placing travel pairs on the unit together
• Solid color scrubs accepted; unit also provides light blue scrubs
• Holiday coverage required; travelers may have 1 of 3 major holidays off but must work 2 holidays (eve/day), with no RTO permitted for Christmas
• RTO cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment and should be kept to a minimum
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Prior UW/facility staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
