Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week nights assignment requiring 2 years of experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care Med/Surg unit specializing in medical stroke care
- Unit flexes up to 35 beds with an average daily census of 26-28 patients
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, supported by 3 PCTs
- Patient population includes stroke (post-TPA or lower level), COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, occasional surgical overflow, and thyroidectomy cases
- 12-hour night shifts with weekends as scheduled
- Uses EPIC EMR
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BSN not required
- EPIC and prior travel nursing experience highly preferred
- NIHSS certification or stroke experience a plus
- Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy medical stroke Med/Surg unit
- Collaborate with a care team including PCT support staff
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
- Returning WVU Medicine travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine facilities for longer than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
