Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN with a CA license, prior travel experience, and strong ED background for a fast-paced Level 2 trauma center.

Details

• Level 2 Trauma Center ED with 44 beds and an average daily census of 190-200 patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 12-hour rotating evening/night shifts (3:30 PM - 4:00 AM), 36 hours per week
• Rotates through shifts including 1p-1a, 3p-3a, 5p-5a, and 7p-7a as scheduled
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Requires coverage of 1 major holiday
• Patient population includes STEMI, stroke, syncope, weakness, trauma, and falls with a high elderly demographic
• Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Support staff includes ER techs, transporters, phlebotomy, RT, case managers, and social workers
• RT manages ventilators; RNs perform IV starts, EKGs, and venipuncture as needed
• No floating or charge nurse responsibilities required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA only for ACLS/PALS)
• CEN and TNCC certifications strongly preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER clinical experience required
• 3-5 years of ER experience strongly preferred
• Prior travel nurse experience required, ideally 1-2 previous assignments
• Epic EMR experience required, must be reflected in work history
• Trauma and pediatric ED experience strongly preferred
• Strong clinical references required
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and manage ambulance triage at bedside

Additional Information

• Must reside within a 50 mile radius of the facility
• Responsible for triaging ambulance patients at bedside and managing rapid patient turnover
• Orientation includes 2 ED shifts (24 hours total) plus 1 shift with an educator (4-6 hours)
• Strong emphasis on patient experience and nursing excellence in a well-informed patient population
• Professional appearance required: scrubs of any color (no denim), non-skid closed-toe shoes, minimal jewelry, and neat hair/facial hair
• No gel or acrylic nails permitted
• Holiday time off requests cannot be approved by the manager
• Good teamwork and a positive attitude are expected
