Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 2 years of MST experience and NIHSS certification.

Details

• 24-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital
• General medicine patient population including DM, GI, Resp, Renal, wounds/dressing changes, chest tubes, and trachs
• RN to patient ratio of 5-6:1, CNA ratio of 8:1
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with dedicated tech support
• EMR: Epic
• IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Omnicell
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience reading telemetry strips required
• Skilled in chest tubes, trachs, PIV starts, drains/tubes, and PCA pump management
• Experience managing drips including Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels
• Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within one year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Support from CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, rapid response team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
