Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 34-bed cardiac telemetry unit, requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit in a 337-bed hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
• 34-bed unit with average census of 32 plus 3 surge rooms
• Patient population includes ESRD, CHF, pneumonia, sickle cell crisis, diabetes/DKA, wounds, and acute/chronic renal failure, mostly medical rather than surgical cases
• Unit will begin caring for Hematology/Oncology patients starting Spring 2026; chemo certification not required and chemo administration not expected unless certified
• RN patient ratios: 1:5 days, 1:6 nights (critical surge 1:7-8)
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7P-7A, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital), within scope of practice
• Paid travel time if floating mid-shift between facilities
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, Rover communication, and Hoyer lifts
• Telemetry monitoring and dedicated telemetry tech support available

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; ONS preferred but not required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General medical/surgical skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care within a collaborative unit supported by CNAs, charge nurse, HUC, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, pharmacist, case managers, clinical nurse specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, and hospitalist coverage
• Unit opened in January 2025 with a welcoming, psychologically safe, and just culture
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
• Free parking available on site
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted

• Previous permanent employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
