Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL license and 2+ years of acute care experience.

Details

• Acute Med/Surg unit with 48 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:5 days and 1:6 nights (usually starting at 1:5)
• Patient population includes pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic, general surgery, total joints, and occasional pediatric respiratory cases
• Charge nurse and admin supervisor present on each shift
• PCTs on unit with 1:8-10 ratios, with 3x daily touchpoints for nursing oversight
• Bi-pap (home regimen, stable/alert patients) and high-flow equipment used, with RNs troubleshooting as needed
• Tele/monitor techs on unit, but RNs monitor their own tele strips
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:30pm-7am
• Weekend requirement of approximately 4 shifts in a 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required every 3rd holiday
• Low census may be implemented in 4-hour increments, reevaluated every 4 hours
• May float to ICU for general acute overflow or to Peru Campus (25 miles away) with at least 2 hours notice
• EPIC EMR used
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation typical

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• PALS certification preferred
• 2+ years of experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care including foley care, CHG bathing, and oral care in collaboration with PCTs
• Ensure PCT-provided cares are performed through oversight and regular touchpoints, including plan of care discussion
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Scrubs must be solid colors and tasteful, with generally no prints
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility (no radius rule restricting eligibility)
• COVID vaccination not required
