Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN Scrub/Circulator for a day-shift assignment requiring ophthalmology surgery experience and call availability.
Details
- Operating Room unit with 6 surgical suites averaging 22 cases per day
- Acute care setting using Epic EMR
- Common procedures include scleral buckle, vitrectomy, corneal transplants, cataracts, minor general surgery, minor spine stabilization, spinal cord stimulators, ENT, and dental cases
- Day shift Monday-Friday, scheduled 0645-1515 with possible extension to complete cases
- No self-scheduling available
- Required minimum of 1 weekday call shift per week with 30-minute response time
- Required call up to every other weekend with 30-minute response time
- Required to rotate holiday call with 30-minute response time
- May be required to float to other surgical departments
- Scrubs provided by facility
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an OR Tech (ORT) required
- Ophthalmology experience required, including ability to independently perform cataract and cornea procedures
- Must be able to both scrub and circulate for ambulatory surgery procedures
- BSN not required
Additional Information
- Perform scrub and circulator duties in a high-volume ophthalmology-focused OR
- Orientation includes hospital orientation followed by unit-specific orientation with staff
- Charge nurse or house supervisor support available, except in the One Day Surgery Building
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify as a traveler
- Previous permanent staff must have a 2-year break before returning as travelers
- Previous travelers who completed a full year at the facility must take a 2-year break before returning
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year without taking a 2-year break, with cumulative experience applying
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
