Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring CNOR certification and Level I trauma experience in a 23-room surgical suite.

Details

• 23-room Operating Room in an acute care hospital setting
• 3x12-hour Day shift weekend block schedule, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 0645-1915
• On-call requirement of approximately 1 shift per week
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner EMR preferred
• Works with all surgical service lines except cardiovascular

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand or in the application process required
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room RN experience required
• BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
• Level I trauma center experience required
• General OR and Trauma surgical experience required
• Experience with a wide range of surgical case types including general surgery, orthopedic, neurology, urology, bariatric, plastics, and transplant procedures
• Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
• Knowledge of blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, Universal Protocol (time-out) procedures, and urinary catheterization
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Scrubs provided for this role
• Parking permit provided at no cost, arranged during orientation
• All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the facility manager
• Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; additional days require facility approval
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Compliance items including lab appointment, DocuSign documents, and badge photo must be completed within 1 week of contract signing
• Day 1 of assignment is a virtual, at-home orientation requiring completion of assigned modules by 4:00 PM CST
