Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a CA RN license and at least 1 year of L&D experience on night shift.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital caring for a high-risk, culturally diverse OB population
- Approximately 20 visits per day with 11 rooms/15 beds and an average daily census of 15-20 patients
- RNs circulate on cesarean sections
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00-6:00
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers given priority to float within their scope of practice
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission (pending license not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3
- Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and circulating for C-sections
- Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal), including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment and hemorrhage management
- Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and discharge teaching
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs, administering blood products, and using infusion pumps
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including antepartum monitoring, newborn care, and pain management support
- Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles for local rate eligibility, though local candidates are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travamers and cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility, whether as a permanent employee, travel contractor, or per-diem/registry staff
- RTO requests are limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront during the application process
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- Travelers may be required to float to nearby sister facilities as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
