Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring CA licensure and at least 1 year of L&D experience.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
- High-risk OB patient population within a culturally diverse community
- RNs circulate on cesarean sections
- 11 rooms/beds with an average daily census of 15-20 patients
- Approximately 20 visits per day
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers floated first within their scope
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and venous blood draws
- Experience with labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery, C-section circulation, and high-risk delivery assistance
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external fetal heart monitoring
- Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and hemorrhage management
- Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, and newborn assessment
- Experience administering medications such as Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-section recovery, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- Support breastfeeding and lactation, discharge teaching, and newborn identification protocols
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, travel contractor, or per-diem staff, including location and dates
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
