Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Behavioral Health unit requiring MA RN licensure and at least 1 year of inpatient child/adolescent behavioral health experience.

Details

• Inpatient Pediatric Behavioral Health unit on a locked medical/psych floor
• Patient population includes child and adolescent behavioral health cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Choice of two 12-hour day shifts (7:00-19:30) or three 8-hour evening shifts (15:00-23:30)
• Every third weekend required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• PEARS and Welle certifications preferred
• At least 1 year of direct inpatient child/adolescent behavioral health experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications preferred
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and self-injurious or suicidal behavior preferred
• Proficiency in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, behavior management, and managing assaultive behavior preferred
• Knowledge of seclusion protocols, physical hold protocols, and emergent chemical restraints preferred
• Two verified professional references from two different facilities among the last three worked required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients in a locked behavioral health unit
• Support patients with a range of psychiatric conditions including eating disorders, trauma-related disorders, and impulse control issues
• Utilize therapeutic approaches such as psychoeducation and crisis intervention as needed
• May assist with emergency care procedures including cardiac arrest response and physical hold protocols
