Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Long Term Acute Care Medical Rehabilitation Unit requiring a CT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU/CMU) providing medically complex rehabilitation care with cardiac monitoring
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wound care, CAPD, and ventilator-dependent patients
• Medical environment distinct from traditional Med/Surg
• Patient ratios of 1:7 on day/evening shifts and 1:9 on nights
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, with either 3x12 or 5x8 shift options available
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to sister units MRU and CMU, with possible additional floating for 12-hour shift staff after 8 hours

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred, though nurses do not manage ventilators directly
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination; personal or religious declinations not accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, administering drips and blood, performing EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• Orientation is held every Monday
