Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night-shift stepdown unit role requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience and drip titration skills.

Details

• Acute care stepdown unit (3N Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis) within a Level 2 trauma facility
• 29-bed unit with nurse:patient ratios of 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
• Patient population includes cardiac medical and surgical cases: post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR), post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemakers
• RNs are required to titrate drips including nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, bumex, and dobutamine (no vasopressors)
• 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors all non-critical care patients and reads strips
• Uses Cerner EMR, which is transitioning to Epic
• Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0730
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling used based on unit needs, with a Fri/Sat/Sun option available
• Floating required as needed based on unit census
• No on-call or standby requirement outside of extra shift opportunities
• Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
• Nurse aide support available at varying ratios depending on shift
• 24/7 respiratory therapy support available for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow vapotherm; RNs are responsible for incentive spirometry

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment
• Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients required
• Experience managing TR band compression devices required
• Experience managing chest pain patients required
• Experience with post cardiac surgical patients required

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to a cardiac medical and surgical patient population, including drip titration and post-procedural monitoring
• Collaborate with 24/7 central telemetry and respiratory therapy teams for patient monitoring and respiratory support
• Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
• No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, with a reduced travel pay rate
• Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration, subject to facility approval
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
