Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position supporting post-op open heart and cardiothoracic patients, requiring 2+ years of PCU experience and chest tube/central line skills.

Details

• Work in a 29-bed Progressive Care Unit within a major teaching hospital and Level IV Trauma Center
• Care for post-op open heart and other cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring, with occasional Med/Surg overflow
• 4:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule (7P-7A), 3x12 or 4x12 hours, weekdays with every other weekend required
• 36 or 48-hour contract options available
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Orientation held every other Thursday
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue/White

Requirements

• Active WV RN license or Compact license in hand required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal experience required
• Central line experience required
• External/internal pacemaker experience required
• Wound vac management experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• 2 Manager or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Flu vaccination required unless medical exemption is provided
• COVID vaccination required, with medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case

Additional Information

• Provide progressive cardiac care to post-surgical open heart and cardiothoracic patients
• Monitor for and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to emergencies
• Blocked schedule requests may be accommodated
• Holiday RTO limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those within 75-99 miles may be considered case-by-case at the standard rate
• Free parking provided for travelers
• Former permanent employees must wait 3 years from last date worked before returning as travelers
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
