Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital requiring 2+ years of MICU experience and telemetry proficiency.

Details

• Work in the ICU/MCICU unit of a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
• Patient population is approximately 70% medical (sepsis, PNA, ARDS, organ failure, DKA) and 30% cardiology (heart failure, post-arrest, arrhythmias)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Patient ratios are 1:2 days and 1:3 nights
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within scope to other ICU units and boarder areas
• No on-call requirements
• EMR is Epic and medication system is Pyxis

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of solid MICU experience required
• Level I and Level II trauma experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must pass a telemetry/EKG competency exam demonstrating proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Required skills include ventilator management, telemetry, and conscious sedation
• Preferred skills include IV starts, ICP monitoring, PA lines/Swan Ganz, Impella, IABP, and CVVHD/CRRT
• Epic charting experience required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to medically and cardiologically complex ICU patients, including management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Responsibilities include arterial and central line management, blood product administration, chest tube assistance, continuous IV sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Any solid color scrubs permitted, with light blue scrubs also provided on the unit
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• RTO should be kept to a minimum and cannot be requested during orientation week
• Prior facility staff must have a separation period of at least 18 months before returning as a travel employee
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Experienced first-time travelers may be considered with strong clinical background
