Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry experience and an active Oregon RN license.

Details

• PCU/neuro stepdown unit within a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching hospital
• Neurotrauma care unit serves patients with brain and nervous system disorders including strokes, TBIs, tumors, and spinal injuries
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the facility and to a nearby affiliated hospital approximately 15 minutes away
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active Oregon RN license required (pending license accepted)
• BLS certification required through AHA
• NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS/Tele/PCU required
• PCU and neuro stepdown experience with NIHSS certification preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with non-invasive airway management and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with cardiac drips (nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, and other IMCU LOC gtts)
• Experience with rapid response team activation and O2 protocol
• Proficient with isolation precautions and PPE use
• Computerized documentation experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a wide variety of neurological and cardiac conditions including strokes, TBIs, seizure disorders, and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Unit holds Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center and Spine Center of Excellence certifications
• Collaborates closely with the facility's Stroke Navigator team
• Scrub color required is royal blue
• RTO requests exceeding 2 weeks require facility approval
• Local candidates are accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former employees of this health system are not eligible for assignments until 6 months after their termination date
• Up to 8 hours of non-billable training modules required prior to start and annually thereafter
