Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift PACU RN with 2+ years of critical care or PACU experience and an active OR RN license for a 13-week travel contract.

Details

• Night shift, three 12-hour shifts weekly (19:00-7:30)
• Position located in South PACU, a 38-bay unit providing 24/7 perianesthesia care
• Cares for adult and some pediatric patients, including ambulatory, acute care, and critical care cases
• Unit staffed 24/7 with on-call requirements for nights, weekends, and holidays
• Candidates may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Consistent weekly schedule expected for contract duration, with flexibility needed
• Supports pre- and post-anesthesia care for surgical and procedural patients

Requirements

• Active RN license required, along with a valid OR RN license
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA Traditional; RQI not accepted); CCRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Adult or Peds Critical Care, ICU, high-acuity ED, or PACU
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills required include cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line care
• Experience with various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks preferred
• Knowledge of Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol, pain assessment, PCA pump management, and RASS required
• Must pass Relias competency exams with a score of 85% or higher
• COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
• Background check must show no prior hits; OHSU conducts a comprehensive lifetime background review
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
• Seven years of verifiable work history required, including city, state, dates, and employment gaps

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive perianesthesia care to surgical patients across multiple specialties including ENT, Ortho, Neuro, Gyn, and Vascular
• Refusal to float as required may result in contract cancellation
• RTO must be submitted upfront and not exceed two weeks
• Returning staff must have a gap of at least 6 months since their last assignment before reapplying
• Former OHSU employees or travelers must provide a reference from their previous OHSU supervisor
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level
