Description
American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Interventional Radiology RN for a teaching hospital, requiring IR or Cath Lab experience and a candidate-supplied radiation badge.
Details
- Procedural RN role in the Interventional Radiology unit, focused on Neuro IR cases
- 4x10 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- On-call required every 5th weekend and one night per week, with a 30-minute response radius during on-call
- No floating required within scope or to sister facilities
- Uses Epic for charting
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA certifications only); NIHSS also required
- 1-2 years of Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab experience required
- Neuro and Critical Care experience highly preferred
- Must supply own radiation badge (facility does not provide one)
- Skilled in monitoring and administering procedural sedation and medications
- ICP experience preferred
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide procedural nursing care for Neuro IR patients, including sedation monitoring and medication administration
- Work within a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital with 865 staffed beds
- Facility provides scrubs
- Parking pass available for a one-time $20 fee, with additional costs for nights and weekends
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on position needs
- Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted with the application and is subject to manager approval
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to qualify for standard travel rate
- During hurricane season (June through November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams

Pros
Everyone was so helpful and nice when i started. beautiful hospital grounds with ample outdoor areas to hang out during breaks/lunch.Amazing cafeteria and always had at least 5 food trucks outside the hospital for linch. Friendly staff including doctors and great patients. patient to staff ratio was awesome and always had a great team mentality of helping everyone out when needed.
Cons
The only con of the area was cost of living especially rent. I rented downtown so I could walk to work but coworkers who lived off of the main downtown area on other islands complained of heavy traffic.
