Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring an active IN or compact license and prior L&D experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a Level 1 nursery and Level 1 OB/delivery hospital setting
• Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 4:00 PM to 4:30 AM
• Staffing ratio of 1 nurse to 2 couplets
• Handles triage, circulating, and telemetry duties with nursery experience preferred
• Performs circumcisions, external versions, and C-sections
• Uses Panda warmers with built-in Neo-puff and Philips wireless fetal monitoring equipment
• Utilizes an OB Hemorrhage Cart
• Cerner charting system experience required
• 100% floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals for all travelers

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (Advanced also accepted)
• Minimum of 18 months of RN experience required, with labor and delivery experience specifically required
• Experienced LDRP nurse preferred
• Skills required include antepartum care, sterile speculum and vaginal exams, obstetrical triage, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Circulating for C-section and dysrhythmia interpretation preferred
• RN must have graduated from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• 2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
• Assists with circumcisions, external versions, and cesarean sections as part of unit responsibilities
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• IN residents are considered local candidates
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents and 6 months for in-state residents
