Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Ambulatory Surgery Center PACU role requiring ACLS, PALS, and prior eye surgery recovery experience.

Details

• Ambulatory Surgery Center setting focused on ophthalmology procedures
• Recovers Phase 1 PACU patients ranging in age from 6 months to 95 years
• Manages airways and controls pain or nausea in recovering surgical patients
• Performs patient interviews, assessments, and administers prescribed pupil-dilating drops
• Familiarity with eye surgery cases such as cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, and plastics strongly preferred
• Days shift, 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week, 40 hours weekly

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association required
• ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Excellent IV skills required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and documents nursing interventions and treatment responses
• Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Monitors physiological data and intervenes as needed during patient recovery
• Administers medications and manages IV infusions and blood products as prescribed
• Communicates care plans with patients and families, including discharge instructions
• Delegates tasks to support staff and coordinates referrals as needed
• Must maintain a fast pace and strong teamwork orientation
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
• Returning workers limited to one extension up to 26 weeks total, followed by a required 6-month separation before reapplying
• Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed once booked
