Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Case Manager for a 13-week acute hospital assignment requiring OH or compact RN licensure and 2 years of case management experience.

Details

• Acute hospital setting supporting adult and geriatric patients across ICU, neuro/stroke, cardiology, oncology, and post-op/orthopedic units
• Day shift schedule (5x8 hours, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 13-week contract as needed
• Staffing ratio of 1:16 on weekdays and 1:100 on weekends
• Uses Epic for documentation (required) and CarePort; Pyxis medication system; SBAR communication
• Provider support includes interpretation services, IV team, pharmacy, phlebotomy, PT, radiology, rapid response, respiratory, social services, and transportation
• Floating to other units and/or facilities as needed is an expectation for all travelers

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• 2 years of case management/utilization review experience required
• Acute hospital MS specialty experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS certification required; BSN preferred
• Case management skills required including admission criteria, appeals and denials, care coordination, medical necessity determination, discharge planning, disease management, DME needs assessment, plan of care, pre-cert review, and prior authorizations
• Familiarity with CMS, Department of Health, HIPAA, OSHA, and Joint Commission/Core Measure regulatory standards required
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include care coordination, discharge planning, utilization review, and ensuring medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines
• Business casual dress required; scrubs not permitted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Returning staff must have been separated from permanent employment for at least 1 year
• Requested time off exceeding 7 days requires manager approval and cannot include holidays or the days before/after holidays
• Schedule may be adjusted with two weeks' notice to balance staffing needs
• Preferred experience includes teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II settings
