Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool role requiring strong PICU experience and BLS/PALS certification.
Details
- Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with Level I Trauma status and 320 staffed beds
- Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool covering PICU, CVPICU, and NICU units
- Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, with 1:3 possible when floating to NICU
- Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) schedules available
- Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
- Floating required within scope between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active before start date)
- MD/VA candidates require compact or state license
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required; 3 years preferred
- Some NICU/CVICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
- Cerner charting experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Skilled in ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, and acute airway maintenance
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and IV therapy
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with congenital heart disease/repair and post cardiac surgery care preferred
- ECMO and bone marrow transplant experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU settings
- Scrubs must be child-friendly, logo-free, and any color is acceptable
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
- Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week off requires making up missed shifts or extending the assignment
- One holiday guaranteed, with a second holiday assigned based on facility need
- Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least one year
- Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
