Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a high-volume hospital
- Handles antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum care
- Supports vaginal deliveries and cesarean section cases, including circulating and recovery
- Manages patients with postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and multiple births
- Utilizes external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and spiral electrode placement
- Administers Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin (oxytocin)
- May be required to float
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced (or NCC C-EFM in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Experience with administration of blood and blood products and drawing venous blood
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum phases
- Performs neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and use of radiant warmers
- Supports lactation and breastfeeding education for postpartum patients
- Assists with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage and tubal ligation
- Completes triage of obstetrical patients and non-stress tests (NSTs)
- Interprets fetal heart rate patterns and dysrhythmias for early intervention
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict processing timelines
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
- Former employees eligible to return as travelers after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
- RTO must be submitted with the initial contract and limited to 7 days or less
- First-time travelers are not required to have previous travel experience, though prior travel experience is preferred
