Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level III unit requiring 1+ year of neonatal ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Level III NICU setting caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those under 24-28 weeks
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Uses Pyxis medication system and EPIC for documentation
• Manages ventilator settings including AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including NP, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretary

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required, Level III or Level IV setting preferred
• Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Skilled in arterial line, central line, UAC, and UVC management
• Proficient in gastrointestinal feeding methods and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube management
• Experience with IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactant administration required
• Experience managing neonatal abstinence syndrome required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal care focusing on respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease management
• Implement SBAR communication method for interaction with healthcare providers and families
• Perform infection control measures including isolation precautions and PPE use
• Candidates with prior experience at Nationwide Children's Hospital will be given special consideration
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently after contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• RTO requests must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel positions
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
