Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Night shift Emergency Observation Unit position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Observation Unit within a Trauma Level III teaching hospital
• 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed based on scope of practice

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
• Experience managing PCA pumps and medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• Support team includes a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN, RT, Hospitalist, Phlebotomy, and IV/VAT Team
• Travelers will be first to float to other nursing units and must demonstrate clinical flexibility
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
• Navy scrub color required
• Free employee parking provided
• Positive team culture with unit activities such as book club and group Netflix watching
• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Previous AHSE employees must be separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before eligibility
