Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring 2+ years of CVICU/CTICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardio Thoracic ICU unit caring for critical and step-down patients under a universal bed model
• Typical patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12s or 4x12s, 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required, including two of the three winter holidays
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Epic EMR proficiency required

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CTICU experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Skilled in arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV starts
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Strong neuro experience required, including post brain surgery care and EVD/ventriculostomy management
• Experience with FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing multi-system organ failure patients
• Experience with CABG, IABP, Impella, and pre/post cardiac cath or intervention care
• Experience with Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and CVVHD/CRRT
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke patients
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Skilled in ABG interpretation and ETT/NT suctioning
• Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Experience with surgical wound care including drains and wound vac
• No history of license or background hits permitted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to cardiothoracic ICU and step-down patients
• EKG testing required with a minimum score of 80% to pass; only one attempt is given with no remediation
• 3 hours of billable modules required prior to start
• Facility cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; any history of fit test issues will disqualify candidates
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• RTO requests must be submitted with the application and are approved on a case-by-case basis
• Travel experience is preferred but not required, and first-time travelers may be considered
