Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring CT or compact RN licensure and prior Level I trauma or community hospital ER experience.
Details
- Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
- Level I Trauma Center setting with high acuity and trauma/shock presentations
- Average patient ratios of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Assigned to one campus with possible cross-training and floating to other campuses within scope
- Travelers will not be assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active or pending CT RN license (or compact license) required
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- NIHSS, PALS, and ENPC certifications preferred
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required; will consider 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or travel background
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Skilled in IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience managing psychiatric holds, acute psychosis, and violent behavior preferred
- One professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of pediatric and adult presentations including trauma, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies
- Participate in cardiac monitoring, emergency medication administration, and management of critically ill patients
- Facility is a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center with 1,567 staffed beds
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; COVID vaccine and booster required with medical or religious exemption only
- Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
