Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel assignment experience

Details

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Float required within skillset as needed
• Unit supports a wound salvage program for patients with wounds and PVD, involving serial OR procedures, wound vacs, wound cultures, and antibiotic therapy
• Typical patient ratio of 1:5-6

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least 1 previous travel assignment
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications preferred
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and surgical drain care
• Familiarity with rapid response/code team protocols preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg patients, including those in the wound salvage program who may undergo amputation procedures
• Flu vaccine required for all employees
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum of one year separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
