Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a night shift travel contract requiring prior travel experience and both Missouri and Kansas or compact licensure.

Details

• Work in a Level II/III NICU with 18 rooms and 20 beds, average daily census of 6.9
• Care for neonates across all gestational ages, including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Weekend requirement of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday and/or Saturday night) plus 2 Sunday nights per 6-week schedule
• On-call requirement of two 12-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule
• Floating required within scope to well baby nursery, deliveries on L&D, and other departments/units/facilities as needed
• Uses Epic for charting
• Patient ratio of 1:1-3

Requirements

• Active RN license, both Missouri and Kansas or compact in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP required; STABLE preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU specialty experience, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficiency required in high-risk delivery attendance, ventilator management, UAC/UVC care, arterial line management, central line care, IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, neonatal dosage calculations, and related NICU skills
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and unit telemetry monitoring
• Experience with phototherapy, hyperbilirubinemia management, and breastfeeding/breast milk handling support
• Experience with respiratory care including bubble CPAP, HFNC, suctioning, and management of oxygen delivery systems
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries, neonatal sepsis workups, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
• Charge nurses and the transition/baby catcher nurse are provided navy blue scrubs
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• No local candidates accepted
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized at time of consideration
• No travel partners accepted
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of tenure, and permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
