Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position at a level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification, requiring trauma and teaching hospital experience.

Details

• Level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification and a level 3 NICU serving as a regional transport resource
• Primarily adult patient population but includes work with pediatric intubated patients, ranging from infants to geriatrics
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and to sister campus as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Utilizes Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, and Viasys Avea systems

Requirements

• RRT certification required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• GA state RRT license required, license required if applicable
• NRP certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma experience required
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Pulmonary function/spirometry testing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, arterial line placement, ABG/capillary blood gas draws, and bedside pulmonary function testing
• Proficient in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, weaning, and troubleshooting alarms
• Experience with airway management including intubation/extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Copies of required certifications needed for consideration
• Two supervisory references at manager level or above are highly preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care including oxygen management, medication administration via nebulizer/MDI, and patient education
• Manage neonatal and pediatric equipment and procedures in addition to adult care
• Interpret arterial blood gases and support pressure/volume ventilator management
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role
• Scrub color required is slate gray
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of submission
• No RTO can be requested during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Prior Piedmont employees must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers who were cancelled or deemed unable to return must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
• Shift and schedule are firm with no alternate requests permitted
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
