Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a level 2 trauma center with a Level 3 NICU, requiring at least 1 year of experience and teaching hospital background.

Details

• 24-week assignment on day shift (3x12 hours, 6:30 AM-7:00 PM)
• Works with patient population ranging from infants to geriatrics, primarily adult with some pediatric intubated patients
• Level 2 trauma center, interventional stroke certified, with a Level 3 NICU serving as the regional transport resource
• Manages non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial line placement, oxygen management, and patient education
• Performs arterial and capillary blood gases and draws from lines
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, and Viasys Avea systems
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within facility and to sister campus as needed
• No call requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience required, primarily adult population with some pediatric intubated patient care
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma experience required
• Level II trauma experience preferred
• Pulmonary function/spirometry testing preferred
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required, NRP preferred
• GA RRT license required if applicable
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, alarm troubleshooting, and weaning
• Skilled in airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Proficient in ABG interpretation and pressure/volume ventilator management
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Slate gray scrub color required
• Maximum 7 days RTO per contract, finalized at time of submission
• No RTO can be requested during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Returning staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who were previously cancelled or not approved to return must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before reapplying
