Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring TN or compact licensure and 2 years of PCU experience with telemetry skills.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting with cardiac telemetry patients
• Day shift, 4x12 hours, 6:30 AM-7:00 PM
• Schedule options include 36/36, 36/48, and 48/48
• 1:5 patient ratio on PCU; 1:7 when floated to Medical-Surgical
• Floating required with priority given to travelers comfortable with MS ratios
• No call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certification only accepted for ACLS/BLS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• IV therapy skills including central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration preferred
• Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care experience preferred
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience preferred

Additional Information

• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers accepted, though prior trauma facility experience is preferred for those without travel experience
• Contract RN team members are expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside patient care duties
• General orientation begins on Sundays and includes online computer-based learning modules
• EKG competency testing required within 72 hours of signing, with up to two attempts allowed
• Drug test must be completed 12-14 calendar days prior to start date
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
• Provide care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and renal conditions
• Support rapid response and code team activations as needed
