Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN with at least 3 years of experience for a night shift assignment requiring active CA RN licensure and fetal monitoring certification.

Details

• Acute care L&D/Postpartum unit with 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds, and 27 postpartum beds with a 5-bed nursery
• Unit averages 3 births per day and approximately 1,545 births per year
• Uses Cerner EMR and FetalLink fetal heart monitoring system
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am
• Follows AWOHNN staffing guidelines for patient ratios
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule
• Call is optional but preferred; inquire during interview
• Floating required between L&D and Postpartum units, with L&D nurses also floating to NICU for grower/feeder care
• L&D nurses must have Postpartum experience
• Charge nurse and resource nurse support available on each shift
• OB techs assist with C-section scrubbing, deliveries, supply stocking, and patient intake
• OB/Neonatologist available in-house or on-call 24/7 with a 30-minute response time
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team or ventilator management on this unit
• 3-shift unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required (AWHONN intermediate or advanced); STABLE certification preferred
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections; scrubbing experience not required
• At least one prior travel assignment preferred
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Care for high-risk deliveries across all gestational ages, EMT drop-offs, substance withdrawal cases, and patients with no prior prenatal care
• Large Spanish-speaking patient population
• Higher-acuity patients may be transferred to other facilities as needed
• Navy scrub color required
• Holiday coverage worked in rotation with permanent staff, typically one major and one minor holiday
