Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Acute care Medical Surgical unit (4 East) with 28 single rooms, expandable to 36
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 days and 1:5 nights
• Patient population includes CHF, diabetic, end-of-life, heart failure, and general medical patients, some requiring telemetry
• EPIC EMR used
• 24/7 charge nurse coverage with patient load dependent on staffing and census
• Patient care techs available, typically at a 1:10 ratio
• Tele monitors (Space Lab brand) available 24/7; nurses must monitor tele strips
• No vents on unit; RT manages BiPap/CPAP
• No titratable drips required
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-730p
• Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday for days)
• Every other holiday required (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required to 4West (Med Surg) and occasionally ICU for overflow patients
• 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• BSN not required
• EPIC experience preferred
• Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit with telemetry monitoring responsibilities
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility, with no radius restriction on eligibility
• COVID vaccination not required
