Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit with 28 single-occupancy beds, expandable to 36
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Patient population includes CHF, diabetic, end of life, heart failure, and general medical patients, some requiring telemetry
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-730a
• No titratable drips required
• 24/7 charge nurse coverage with patient load depending on staffing and census
• Nurse aides/patient care techs available, generally at a 1:10 ratio
• No ventilator management required; BiPAP/CPAP monitored by respiratory therapy
• 24/7 tele monitor tech support using Space Lab monitors, though nurses must also monitor strips
• Required to work every other weekend (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun nights)
• Required to work every other holiday (holiday eve shifts for nights)
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to 4West Med/Surg and occasionally ICU for overflow patients

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Acute care setting experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit with a mix of medical and telemetry patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation typically 2 shifts, with flexibility up to 3
• Must complete 12 hours of non-billable orientation prior to starting guaranteed hours
• Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen for all panels as part of OSF's drug-free campus policy
