Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric RN for a Hematology/Oncology and Acute Care unit at an academic medical center, requiring NC or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of relevant pediatric experience.

Details

• Work on a 32-bed Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Acute unit at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center
• Average daily census of 14-32 patients
• Patient population includes leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell crisis, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, behavioral health overlay, and general adolescent medicine
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 on Peds Adolescent Medicine; CNA ratio of 1:6-16
• Bedside telemetry monitoring is used, with no dedicated tele tech support
• EMR used is Epic
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1830-0700, with a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required routinely between PA and PHO units and other units within Brenner, excluding Peds ED

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS certification required; PALS preferred for PA unit
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric hematology/oncology acute care experience (PHO) or pediatric acute care experience (PA)
• Skilled in central line management, chemotherapy administration, and pediatric assessment/critical thinking
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there

• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
• Scrub color is royal blue; pediatric-appropriate scrub tops permitted
• Free on-site parking available
• First-time travelers welcome if they have a strong pediatric background
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible (local candidates not accepted)
