Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 1 trauma acute care setting, requiring RRT/CRT certification and 2+ years of recent respiratory therapy experience in a large hospital with ICU experience.

Details

• Acute care setting at a Level 1 trauma facility
• Adult RRT unit with potential Adult/NICU or Adult/PICU rotation
• Utilizes Epic EMR
• Rotating day and night 12-hour shifts, primarily 12-hour with some 8-hour shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• May float to other campuses within the health system as needed
• Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
• Works alongside charge RTs and 6-14 other therapists per shift depending on campus
• Uses equipment including Hamilton G5 & C1 ventilators, V60, Airvo, Philips CoughAssist, Synclara Cough Device, Volara, Vest, ResMed AutoPAPs, Radiometer ABL90 Flex, Aerogen, Nitric Oxide, 3100B HFOV, and patient home vents (Trilogy, Astral, Vivo)

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience required
• Level 1 trauma and ICU experience required
• ER experience preferred
• Experience in a facility with 300+ beds required
• RRT via NBRC preferred, CRT considered
• BLS (AHA) required
• ACLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) preferred
• State license required if applicable
• Willingness to apply for state license within 72 hours of offer acceptance if not already held
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Perform respiratory therapy assessments, protocols, and therapeutic interventions for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders
• Conduct arterial punctures and blood gas analysis
• Manage ventilator and NIV therapy
• Assist with intubations, bedside trach placement, bedside bronchoscopy, tracheostomy changes, decannulation, and extubations
• Participate in emergency response teams, ICU rounds, and patient intrahospital transport
• Complete lab orientation with RT education staff and preceptor shifts with unit RTs
• Must be able to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills required for constant coordination with the healthcare team
• Ability to manage rapid changes in patient condition
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Steel gray scrubs required
• Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility may be considered at a reduced rate
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system must disclose prior employment and have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
