Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 trauma teaching facility, requiring TX or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

• Level 1 trauma teaching facility located in downtown Austin
• 53-bed emergency department with an annual volume of 55,000-60,000 patients
• Staffed with 2 charge nurses and supported by a physician and nursing residency program
• Staffing model includes nursing, clerks, transporters, and PCTs
• Holding/boarding of inpatients is likely
• Uses Cerner EHR system
• Shift schedule is 06:45-19:15
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA)
• ACLS certification required (AHA)
• PALS certification required (AHA)
• NRP certification required (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics)
• TNCC certification required, renewed every 4 years
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Ascension CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training required, 8-hour course renewed every 2 years
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
• Implements and monitors patient care plans while communicating patient condition to the care team
• Serves as primary coordinator across disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
• Carries out physician and nursing orders and assesses discharge planning needs
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment
• Nursing staff wear navy top and bottom scrubs
• Radius rule applies allowing local candidates at a reduced rate, with mileage varying by state
• Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
