Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department role at a Level 1 trauma teaching facility, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• 53-bed Level 1 trauma teaching Emergency Department in downtown Austin
• Annual patient volume of 55,000-60,000
• Staffed with 2 charge nurses and supported by a physician and nursing residency program
• Care team includes nursing, clerks, transporters, and PCTs
• Holding and boarding of inpatients likely
• Uses Cerner for EHR
• Shift schedule is 13:00-01:00
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS certification (AHA)
• ACLS certification (AHA)
• PALS certification (AHA)
• NRP certification
• TNCC certification, renewed every 4 years
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Ascension CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training, 8-hour course renewed every 2 years
• Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care and implement patient care plans in a high-acuity trauma environment
• Coordinate care across disciplines and communicate patient condition changes
• Carry out physician and nursing orders and assist with discharge planning
• Requires strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment
• Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Nursing staff required to wear navy top and bottom scrubs
• Local candidates accepted, though a radius rule may apply that affects pay rate
