Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, CO/compact RN license, and AWHONN certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital Birthing Center with 16 staffed beds
• Handles 100-200 births per month
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM), various days of week
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Uses Epic for charting
• Required to work every third weekend
• On-call responsibilities per unit needs
• Floating required within scope to like units and to sister facilities within the North region as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with high-risk antepartum, VBAC management, and various delivery types required
• Skilled in fetal monitoring including EFM, internal/external monitoring, and IUPC placement
• Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, delivery, and postpartum management
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and use of forceps/vacuum extraction
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
• Support breastfeeding and lactation, and manage postpartum complications such as hemorrhage and bladder distension
• Facility recognized with Magnet designation for nursing excellence
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Maximum 10 RTO days permitted per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during certain weeks
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
