Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/IMC unit position requiring telemetry skills and a WV or compact license.

Details

• Work in a Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit (SDU) with patients comparable to Progressive Care or Telemetry patients in larger facilities
• Patient acuity varies across the unit
• Typical patient ratio is 1:4, flexing to 1:5 in emergencies
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 7p-7a
• Weekday schedule with some weekend requirements
• Weekend-only blocked schedules considered (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1 year of MS/Telemetry experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• BLS and ACLS certifications required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac telemetry monitoring and stepdown-level nursing care
• Manage patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and other complex conditions
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Monitor for dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Non-billable Cerner training modules required prior to start, averaging 8 hours to complete
• Limit holiday RTO requests to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
• Travel experience not required, first-time travelers may be considered
