Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neonatal ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 3 years of Level III NICU experience and prior travel experience at a Magnet teaching facility.

Details

• 54-bed Level III NICU serving as a regional referral center for high-risk infants
• New, state-of-the-art unit primarily caring for very low birth weight premature infants requiring ventilatory support
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Required to work 2 variable weekend shifts per month, scheduled as needed
• May float within the hospital to Mother Baby unit to care for infants only
• No floating to sister hospitals
• No call requirements
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of permanent staff experience in a Level III NICU required
• At least 3 years of recent, high-acuity NICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, and administration of blood products
• Experience with UAC/UVC catheter care required
• Proficient in neonatal medication administration including vasopressors, antibiotics, and dosage calculations
• Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oscillators
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia, surfactant administration, and lumbar puncture assistance preferred
• Experience caring for neonates across a range of gestational ages, including under 24-28 weeks

Additional Information

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to critically ill neonates, including infants requiring ventilatory support
• Attend high-risk deliveries as needed
• Support developmental care practices and patient/family education
• Manage infectious disease precautions including neonatal sepsis workups and isolation protocols
• Magnet-designated, teaching hospital environment
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum, with no time off permitted during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Prior facility staff must have an 18-month separation period before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
