Description

American Traveler is hiring a Surgical ICU RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of SICU experience and a compact or CT RN license.

Details

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting within a large academic Level I Trauma Center
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float to step-down unit as needed within scope
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or CT) required prior to start, pending license accepted
• Minimum 2 years of SICU experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in airway management, IV drip management, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Proficient in arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and ventilator management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
• One professional reference required
• Flu vaccination required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccination and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to surgically complex ICU patients, including management of ventilators, drips, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Work within a large academic medical center recognized as a Level I Trauma Center
• Participate in emergency response activities as needed, including natural disasters
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
• Previous perm staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval
