Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NY license in hand and 1 year of MS/Tele experience.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• 13-week assignment length
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of prior MS/Tele experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with peripheral line care and management
• Experience administering medications including heparin and PCA
• Ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and use rapid response/code teams
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with non-invasive airway management

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to med/surg and telemetry patients, including post neurosurgery, renal failure, and total joint replacement cases
• Preferred experience includes accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, insulin administration, and IV insulin protocols
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed, holidays excluded
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the health system for at least one year before being eligible to return as a traveler
