Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Correctional facility position requiring 2+ years of recent acute care and correctional experience.
Details
- Correctional facility setting on a Med/Surg unit
- Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
- No block scheduling or special schedule requests accommodated
- Mandatory float facility, clinicians may float to any unit within scope or to other Cook facilities within 50 miles with as little as 2 hours notice
- Uses Cerner charting system
- No call requirements
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand upon consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
- Correctional nursing experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and rapid response/code team participation
- Experience with oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Two professional references required from most recent employers prior to start
- Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care within a correctional health services environment
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available on a first come, first serve basis
- RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, none on weekends
- No RTO permitted on or adjacent to holidays; contract may be cancelled for holiday call-outs
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility at a reduced rate
- Returning resources must undergo full recredentialing and orientation, even after breaks in contract of less than 30 days
- Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
