Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center on night shift, requiring 2+ years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience and mandatory floating capability.

Details

• Med/Surg unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests approved
• Mandatory float facility - clinicians may be floated to any unit within the facility or to other Cook facilities within 50 miles at the facility's discretion
• May receive floating notification as little as 2 hours prior to shift start
• Uses Cerner charting system
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills required: cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Management of dysrhythmias and tracheostomy care/management preferred
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions (booster not required)
• Two professional references required, from most recent employers, with only one reference accepted per employer

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg patient population in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting
• May be floated outside primary area of competency, with a team-based care model implemented for support in these situations
• Refusal to float may result in assignment cancellation
• RTO limited to 5 days maximum with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO approved on weekends
• No holiday RTO permitted, and no RTO allowed the day before or after a holiday
• Contract may be subject to cancellation if a call-out occurs on a holiday
• Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and reorientation regardless of length of break in contract
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
• Local candidates accepted and preferred within 75 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
