Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/Med-Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring EPIC experience and at least 1 year of nursing experience.

Details

• Work on a 29-bed flex unit serving both med-surg floor and stepdown patients
• Diverse medical patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for med-surg floor patients
• Support staff includes Clinical Associates (CAs) at a 1:10 ratio and 24/7 Charge RNs and House Supervisors
• RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and HiFlow, with vents present in stepdown
• Central remote telemetry surveillance available using Philips monitoring equipment; RNs not required to read their own strips
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour day shifts, with weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Expected to work about half of all facility-recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirements
• First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience managing a 6-patient med-surg or 3-patient stepdown assignment
• Ability to titrate drips such as Heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, opioid PCAs, and TPN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a unit that flexes between med-surg and stepdown based on patient needs
• Scrub colors limited to royal blue and white combinations
• First-time travelers and new grads are welcome to apply
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital)
• Returning travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break
• All candidates interview directly with a unit manager
